I had a lovely entry all written up ready to press the publish button on when we got back to the France today, but due to this morning's events I thought I would just start again.
Our Christmas trip to England didn't get off to the best of starts - the agency who had booked our flights back had managed to book them for the 12th of December instead of the 21st. Fortunately we were early to check in and there were nine spaces left on the flight so we were able to get new tickets. It meant a lot of hanging around sitting in the airport floor though. Not ideal with hungry babies, but not totally unexpected given our past experiences with airports.
The trip back to England ended up really busy and not that relaxing but it was lovely having the chance to catch up with most people and eat as much food as physically possible. Stu broke our no present pact quite dramatically and got me an iPad which this entry is brought to you courtesy of (which means i have no excuses for keeping the blog up to date now!).
This morning we woke at 4:30 in order to get our 6:45 flight back to Geneva. As we went to check in I could tell from the lady's face that something wasn't right. It turns out the flight time had been changed to 6:10 and had already closed and there was no way we could get on. The agency (same one as above) had been informed about the change but totally failed to let us know. So what else could we do but head back to Whitley Bay and head back to bed angry, disappointed, upset, and gobsmacked...
So the New Year hasn't got off to the best of starts. But it means we have a few more days in England until we can sort out some new flights back.
And as always I have a list of resolutions as long as my arm, all on a similar theme (get fit, eat less, stop procrastinating) but most of all this year I want to improve my French to a level where I am confident in most situations. And living in France gives me the perfect chance to do it. But as we're not in France yet, I may as well wait a few days before starting out with my resolutions ;-p
So to anyone who is reading, here's to a healthy and happy 2012! I hope it brings whatever you wish for xxxx
